Battlefield 1

Hey everyone, thanks for taking a look at the latest blog post. Today was the official reveal for the next line in the Battlefield franchise: Battlefield 1.

I was able to watch the livestream and learned quite a bit about it, and while I’m not 100% on-board yet (they’ll have to go through a successful launch before I am back on board 100%), I will say this Battlefield looks graphicly amazing, and some of the gameplay and details sound like they could provide some interesting, and very typical, Only in Battlefield experiences.

Battlefield 1 - Plane in Air

From the info here, we can determine there’s going to be some expansion packs (at least 4) that include themed weapons and gear, battlepacks are back, and multi-vehicle and Battlefield-typical, warfare.

For the full reveal, check out the Official Battlefield 1 trailer here:

The trailer has tons of great info in it, and the livestream had several Youtubers asking questions after the trailer was revealed. Through these questions, we found there are going to be different vehicle dynamics – you won’t be able to “learn one tank and know them all” – each tank will have it’s own style of play and it’s own quirks; there will even be tanks that can house a full squad (though I’d hate to be in that bad boy when it get’s C4’ed)! Because of this specific answer to one of the questions presented, I think we can assume a lot (if not each one) of the vehicles are going to have different “quirks” that will require you to “know your vehicle” to use it to the best of its ability.

There will also be some different dynamics for infantry gameplay, including “roles” – it was mentioned the flamethrower role specifically will be “unique” and “each soldier will have an opportunity to play as [the flamethrower]”. They didn’t want to reveal too much here as there will be “more details in the coming months”, but this sounds to me like it’s going to be some type of “pick-up” base “utility” (I’m thinking similar to the Rorsch or M82 autosniper).

It was also confirmed that weapon customization is “back with a twist”. They didn’t go into detail at all, so we don’t know if this will mean we have camos and camo customization like they recently added to Battlefield:Hardline, if it’s weapon attachments like rifle scopes or grenade launchers, or if some hybrid of the two.

Battlefield 1 - Box Art

Either way, the trailer is looking to offer a good venue to push the Battlefield franchise into the future. Personally, I can’t wait until 2143 and more futuristic battles, but I’ll be on the Battlefield just the same while we wait for the next one to come out. As long as the launch of Battlefield 1 goes better than Battlefield 3 or (especially) Battlefield 4, I will be happy.

I’ll keep posting quick updates about Battlefield 1 as more information comes available.

Until next time, I’ll see you on the battlefield, SOLDIER!
